I used to have some speakers pluged in to the back but they got dragged out and they are now damaged. But for somestange reason the volume that comes from the moniter has dissapeared. its not muted or low and if i right click the mouse over the screen the option for volume isnt their anymore. Is their a way i can download an audio file or something. I have windows 98se (i know well dated). Please i hope someone has a good answer for me

nothing has a yellow x over it in the systems section, but i do think something got deleated by mistake. Do you know if their is something i can download to help me?

It must be the driver for your sound card. But you have to come up with more details than this. Go to Contrl Panel->System->Device Manager (If I remember Win 98 correctly) and see if there's a yellow circle with a black question mark in it on the left of your sound device or if there's a red 'X' mark. If it's a red one, then your sound card must have been disabled for some reason. You'll have to go into it's property window and disable it. If it's a yellow one, then you're sound card is not functioning properly, which could be due to a number of reasons. One is a hardware conflict. The second is that your sound card's driver has been removed. You'll have to figure that out or give us more info on it. If your sound device is not even in the device manager list, it has been removed from your system. If that is the case, try using the Add New Hardware wizard to fix the problem.

poke around control panel / sounds and audio devices, and / or go to hardware manager [my computer, right-click, properties] and look for same: sounds and audio devices. most likely you are missing a sound driver.
