and indeed people can say anything they want about Jesus but it's seldom Jesus that people disdain ... it's the aggressive and yet self pitying followers of Paul that people snort at with derision, those oh so comfy American Fundy Christians that whine "unbelievers persecute me even as Jesus said they would" as they file by the thousands into their opulent mega churches dressed in designer clothes and donate their tithing to buy lobbyist influence peddlers to further their "moral" agendas in Washington DC.
when you're a member of the majority religion and that religion owns all kinds of multimillion dollar tax exempt businesses and has a big lobby in D.C it's so funny and yet irritating to hear how "persecuted" you American Christians are.
cry me a river Jordan.

The most fervent of Christians called Fundamentalist want to make EVERYBODY else follow the law as they see it in the bible. They believe the bible is inerrant in every word and that God's law should come before constitutional law. They even believe that homosexuals should be punished with death.
My sister is a born again and holly roller. Claims she understands what God says when people speak in tongues. Think my family is crazy.

You are confusing distain for Jesus with your blind and brain dead interpretation of one of the few places you read about him. In example, Jesus is not the one and only true god - god is, Jesus is his son. Also, god may well have had other children, but your blind and brain dead interpretation again means you will never consider it. We don't have distain for Jesus, we have distain for you.

People do not want to accept the responsibility of saying they are believers. Why? Because then they can sin and make excuses to the Lord that "they didn't know it was a sin." Why else?
Jesus, MY LORD, is LORD, and my rock, and my savior and I will never make an excuse that I don't believe and use that ignorance to sin. That's why people don't like believing. He's watching and they KNOW it!
As to the comment the other person made about people saying Jesus was gay??? Are you nuts? Jesus was CHASTE, something very few people even understand. CHASTE IS WITHOUT BLEMISH and you don't have sexual encounters when you are in a position of being Christlike. Make sense?

It all has to do with the hardening of and the lawlessness of hearts leading to the end of the age mentioned in Thessolonians. Despite what non-believing Anti-Christ people say (even right here right now regarding this question), Jesus really is for real and one day thier knee will bow to Him also along with everyone else's knee to proclaim Him as Lord. They will get to see Him face to face and then they can try and convince Him why they chose not to believe in Him. I hope this helps. PEACE!!!

Welcome to free expression.
You may read the Bible and see Jesus as a holy teacher and the son of God. I read the Bible and see Jesus as a pathological liar and a con-man.
You have your beliefs. I have mine. It's simple, and it's fair. Now, if I were the only one who was allowed to express my opinion about the criminal-come-diety called Jesus Christ, that would hardly be fair now, would it.
So it is with the premise of your question. How is it fair that only people who read the Bible through rose colored glasses should be allowed to express their opinions of Jesus?

No one disdains Jesus -- it's his followers who can be very obnoxious! Jesus was just one of many rabbis preaching different versions of Judaism throughout Israel. Too bad you're not interested in what the others had to say.

Because Jesus prophesied that there would be. Ironic that those who have the most hatred for Him are the very ones proving the truthfulness of His teachings, eh? lol

What disdain?
Do you mean the few posts about him being gay?
Other than that I don't really see anything bad about him.

Jesus said He came to earth to bring a sword, not peace.
It has always been and always will be - until His coming - that His name stirs up strong emotions, strong opinions, and strong disagreements.
How blessed we are to know Him!
and remember:
"Blessed are those who are persecuted for my name's sake...."
