I believe so, because when my cat was a kitten he was so hyper, but when we blowed smoke in his face he would calm down and mellow out...Works on grasshoppers too!!

The effects of damage to the lungs and respiritory system from smoke are long documented. Risk your own health by all means but not that of your cat.
