when telemarketers call how come if you try and call the number back it is gone or busy?? how do they do that?

They aren't calling from home, they're calling from a business. Businesses may have all calls listed as coming from a single number even if the business has multiple phone lines. The business may not even have a real inbound phone number and only have outbound lines. (These are all things your local phone company can set up when you're putting in the right kind of expensive equipment.)

most telemarketing companies use dialers. a computer system use to select phone number from a database. it is practically impossible to reach them on the line they called out on, they are outgoing lines only. besides, why would they want someone calling them back

Go to ebaumsworld.com and go to the left colum and click phone calls and click on the one with the telemarketers. it's so fuunyyy.

As long as they are on the phone you can't call them/ Their job is to make phone calls so they are on the phone all the time. They have a computer that is randomly dialing numbers.

They work off a switch board. There may be 40 people using that one number, those lines are out going only.

Sometimes large corporations fail to utilize their caller ID capabilities. In order to save money they do not take the time and effort to program their phone systems.

They block their numbers.
When they call, I just tell them to hold on for a sec...then I go back to what I was doing. 30 minutes later, I'll hang up the phone.

There phone are only for out going calls, and they can't receive calls.

don't try to call them back and you won't get that problem. Instead buy a fog horn or something and blast that into the phone when they call you.
