I suggest the following all-natural supplements.

Optiflora: to repopulate the bowel lining with "friendly bacteria"

Alfalfa Complex: anti-inflammatory; high mineral content promotes healing; promotes cleaning of bowel irritants

Zinc: promotes healing

B-Complex: anti-stress; increases absorption

GLA Complex: essential for tissue healing

Hope this is useful and feel free to contact me with questions.

Unfortunately, Crohn's Disease has so many different variations depending on the person that there is no absolute. I have found success with Imuran and Remicade, but other people I have known have had trouble with those medications.

Here's some non-medical things I have found very helpful:
1) get rest - don't run yourself down because it is easy for Crohn's to take hold in a weak body

2) eat well - yeah, there are a lot of foods that are hard for most of us to eat (like salad and popcorn), but find what you can eat (maybe boiled or baked veggies instead of raw) and try not to eat a lot of junk. I have nearly cut out all of the refined sugar from my diet (of course I eat some but have seriously cut back) and have worked fiber into my diet by eating Triscuits and fruit. You, however, may not be to the point of eating stuff like that, yet.

3) Try to eliminate as much stress as you can from your life. As hard as it may be, this may mean distancing yourself from certain people in your life or changing your job.

4) Find something to look forward to. Find an event you want to attend, after you go to that, find something else you want to do to look forward to.

5) be open and honest with your doctor

5) Take acidopholus - you will probably have to go to a health food store (or you can eat yogurt, but I hate yogurt). These are bacteria that live in your intestines that those of us with UC or CD tend to get out of balance on due to all of our intestinal trauma

Good luck! It's a hard journey, but it can happen. Learn to listen to your body to find out what works and what doesn't. check out ccfa.org to see if there is a chapter (and maybe support group) in your area

hey, i have it too. I haven't been taking my meds for about 2 weeks now. I feel fine, but Im worried, what if I start feeling sick again? I feel like I've taken this medicine long enough, and I am in Remission, but I say, stay stress free, and rest well. Even though that sounds tough, you can do it.

eat a completely vegan diet - no animal products at all and try to stay away from sugar, gluten and wheat too. Not easy, but then, neither is the disease.
