This is the concept of "the god of the gaps". People had "gaps" in their knowledge and felt compelled to fill that gap with an answer. God eased that compulsion, made them feel that they weren't so confused and lost. Now that science, technology, advancement in general is closing those gaps, God is no longer needed. The god of the gaps is shrinking rapidly.

From Wikipedia:

The term God-of-the-gaps argument usually refers to an argument that assumes an act of God as the explanation for an unknown phenomenon, and is a variant of an argument from ignorance. Commonly such an argument can be reduced to the following form:

--There is a gap in scientific knowledge.
--The gap is filled with acts of a god (and therefore also proves, or helps to prove, the existence of said god).

One example of such an argument might be as follows: "Because science can't figure out exactly how species change, it must be God who causes it to happen."

because man's mind has become so tainted over the years from non-belief and wanting to acknowledge so many other forms of creation that his eyes may have become blinded by so-called scientific explanations rather than to accept that perhaps the GOD theory may be an exception to the rule of nature as man sees it. and, yes i am a christian, but i know what i believe and feel in my heart and soul and if someone else feels otherwise, then that's up to them to decide, but, my decision for myself has been made!!

Because people were ignorant in the past, and would just claim "god-did-it" for every little thing they didn't understand.

Now that we know rainbows are a product of light refraction, comets are balls of ice moving through space, and disease is caused by microscopic germs, god is no longer needed to explain these things.

As a previous responder pointed out, "god" is nothing more then a placeholder for knowledge yet to be learned.

Because God is scientific. He created the miraculous laws of Physics, why would He not abide by them?

Easy. God is very scientific... he created it all so why shouldn't things be "scientific?".... we can explain some things but there are oodles of things that scientists simply do not understand.
