It can mean anything. I know some girls who are not from the south who talk like that and they take it a step further by calling others "sexy" and "baby."

it could be a flirt but it might be in her nature to be flirtatious to many people. I think you putting too much weight into this comment but it never hurts to flirt back and see how she responds but gentally not perverted and mean... aka call her "jennie smile" or tell her she has a nice personality next time she calls you honey and thank her. If she stops then you know she was just being freindly if she gets more flirty she might like you. Either way it is not offencive any you have left her with a bunch of questions.

im from mich, and i do call my bf hun or honey or other names of endearment, which isnt huge-dont look to deep into that. And i would hope she would know your name. Anyway as for the BYE HONEY in public seems to me she wants everyone to know u two are an item. talk to her about easing up with honey, or jus lay back about it, its not like she calls u a moron.

Well I live in the south, but I was born in Delaware. If you are a teenager, than that is pretty wierd. She may just be trying to get those other girls mad somehow. Nobody really calls anybody else petnames in the south, because I had neighbors from Georgia, and they were really southerners!

I would take it as a hint, but only as a hint to pay more attention. Pay attention to her body language when she's around you, or if you catch her looking at you more then once when she thinks your not paying attention. If you're thinking about making a move I'd wait just a bit, you don't want to ruin a friendship over a few pet names.

I think you are reading into it too much. My grandma calls me "honey". Also, my girlfriend calls EVERYONE "hun" or "honey" and so it doesn't mean anything special when she says it to me. We have more original pet names for each other.

It could be that you're reading too much into it. Look at other factors, like body language. How close does she stand to you? Does she flip her hair or act nervous? Does she pay more attention to you than other people around her? How does she look at you?

Some girls call their friends by these names -- but, since you are questioning it...you need to be honest and sit down w/her to ask why she does it. It may be she's just comfortable w/you and wants to show affection or it may be she wants more or thinks there is more.

Some people use pet names with great frequency, no matter who they're with. Unless the other girls started giggling, I wouldn't sweat it!

you're thinking too deep, I have pet names for certain people, not everyone, cause not all people come across as a "honey" or "baby" or "sweetie".....you know? would take it as a compliment if I were you :-)
