My birthday is 2 days after Christmas and some of my family members will say that they didn't get me a gift because they gave me a Christmas gift. It's not fair because they wouldn't say that if my birthday was another time. Some also say that they can't afford it because there're broke from Christmas. I used to believe it but my birthday comes every year and they should save some cash.

It is tough having a birthday right after Christmas, tough on you and tough on your family. I'm sure they love you and mean well, and it is probably true that they spent all their money on Christmas presents. You could always save a couple of Christmas presents to open on your birthday.

my mom's b-day is dec 24th. . we always find a way to get her a b-day present and a christmas present. Me and my real sister take turns baking the b-day cake and bringing it over to her house on christmas eve, even if we plan on doing christmas day at her house we always celibrate both her birthday and christmas. After all we love her and she deserves a b-day present as well as a christmas present. It's not always about the money it's the feelings that are more important, I wouldn't want to hurt her feelings by not honoring her b-day.

I guess I can understand your frustration but you have to remember- there are bigger problems in life. People that don't have food, much less than gifts. I rarely get gifts on my birthday but my family always calls or writes and just knowing that they love me is more than enough. Sorry if this isn't helping you but its the first thing that came to my mind after reading your post.

I know!

Tell everyone that you don't need ANY presents for Christmas OR your birthday.

That way you won't sound like such a materialistic idiot!
