I think when it comes to the first date a man should do everything ask....pick up.....pay..... open doors .....manners.....he should be a gentlemen and have charm and all of these should be seen on the first date and then when it is over and you have gotton all those and only when you have gotton all of these requirements met then be the first to call and say thank you

Sometimes I think it would be nice if they did, but in reality I think it varies from situation to situation. If one is more assertive than the other, then that one, whether male of female, will tend to initiate things.
I think the most important thing to remember is that honesty is wonderful, in action as well as in words. If you have met a great guy and are excited about seeing him, call him. These silly "rules" people seem to want to cling to do nothing but muddy the situation. Forget them, do what you feel is right, most likely the other person will enjoy the initiative, and if they don't, if they want to play the waiting game, let them.....with someone else.

Heck no, we should also take the initiative. Why wait and wonder, if you like someone and had a nice date then make the call to say so.

If you sit around and let things happen around you, they may not happen the way you want. For instance fail, to leave out the fact that you are a vegetarian of worse a vegan and end up at a steak house!
Speak up, get involve otherwise you could be setting the tone for the rest of relationship that gives him a certain amount of "control."

Should has nothing to do with it. Since women do not do this EVER, the man has to. You may disagree but all women will let you die of old age before lifting a finger to initiate anything, no matter how desperately they want you.

Hah ! this is sooo old skool... outdated dating stuff... I think in todays society... there is no such thing as men or women. I think either sex should do the initiation... I think a lot of guys are open to this nowadays.
