Even though you are not near your vet, it may be a good idea to call him/her, or the nearest emergency vet for advice. Cats can get concussions just like people do, and your best bet is to get him to your vet as soon as you can. At the very least, they'll tell you he's OK and go back home, but if there is a problem you'll know he's being cared for. In the meantime, keep a close eye on him, and make him as comfortable as you can... putting him next to the fireplace may not be the best area. If he's got a bed he sleeps in, put him there, otherwise a box with a soft blanket is nice. If he starts vomiting, that's a sure sign he needs to get to his Dr. immediately. If you don't know where there's a vet near you, I've added a website that may help.I hope everything goes well with him.

Yes they can as my cat had it after she fell out of a tree and the drop was about 12 foot and suffered concussion, her symptoms where wobbly on her feet and falling over crossed eyes and drowsiness so if your cat has any unusual symptoms take her to the vet so they can check to see if her pupils react to light, when my cat had it the vet said to keep her in for complete rest for a few days and after about the 3rd day she was her old self again, but i on the other hand had my nerves in tatters she gave me such a fright! but she was so brave, oh and that tree was chopped down the same day!

Yes, they can get concussions. You should take him to a vet right away, even if you have to drive a bit to get there.
I'd also be a bit concerned about the bats. Be sure that they are not getting in your house, and that your cat's rabies vaccination is up-to-date. Bats are a major carrier of rabies and their bites often go unnoticed because their teeth are so small. If they are flying around your house they might be getting inside (they can fit through very small openings). You should contact a wildlife removal expert to see if they can be removed--it's illegal to kill them. Your local humane society might be able to recommend someone.

Beware,I think that this cat may have been bitten by one of these bats! And maybe now it's a vampire cat or something. If his tail keeps smouldering for you, well I think you may be in trouble.

no vets anywhere near you? Please try and find one straight away, he needs help. I dont know of anything you could really do without special training and equipment. What about a local humane society, could they help him? good luck!
