Here are the things to consider in this situation:

1. Your age. If you are under 22 years old I would generally recommend that you don't get into a long distance relationship. When you are young it is important to date enough people that you know what is important to you in a relationship and this means dating a fair number of different people. If you lock yourself up in a long-term long-distance relationship you can miss out on this. Instead stay friends with this person and keep the possibility open for the future.

2. The Distance. You mention Texas and Arkansas but give no specific locations. The most important thing here is realistically how often can you visit each other? Distance is less important than time. If can visit every weekend then it isn't a big deal, if it is once a month then it is significant, if it is less than once a month it is usually a deal breaker unless the relationship meets criteria 3. It is also worth considering who will make the trip - if only one of you has transportation or the means to make the trip it will generally lead to feelings that the other person isn't sharing equally in the relationship. Also remember if you spend every weekend out of town your relationships with your friends will suffer.

3. If you believe this person is your soul mate. A long distance relationship is worthwhile if you honestly believe that this person is someone you want to marry and/or spend the rest of your life with. Long distance relationships can be really hard, but for the love of your life it is worth it.

4. Be aware of the vacation relationship. If you are in long distance relationship and only get to see each other on rare occasions you may get into a vacation relationship. This is when you go away for the weekend to spend time with your significant other, usually it also means that both of you clear everything else off the schedule to focus on enjoying the time together. It is usually quite easy to enjoy this time - vacation plus a person you want that you usually can't have. Just beware that when you actually live with this person or in the same city all the realities of life intrude. If you have any problems in a vacation relationship think about how that relationship will function with everyday stress and problems.

5. A plan for getting together. A long distance relationship is usually a short term thing (anywhere for a few months to a couple of years). You meet someone that you think is great and then stay in the relationship to figure out how great they really are for you. If they really are the right one then you need a plan to get into the same area. If neither of you is willing to move of the relationship it is a dead end. Consider if you are willing to move for a relationship before you commit.

In short, go for it if you have dated enough to really know what you want and you honestly believe this person may be your soul mate or you are trying to figure out if they are the right person for you. Otherwise you should stay friends with them and date other people. If you later realize that this person if the one then you can still make it work.

Bad Bad Bad. I was in a long distance relationship for 3 years. He lived in Indiana and I live in Nevada. I later found out he was not true to me and did not want to spend the rest of his life with me. Do not trust someone that far away cuz U really dont know them as well as if it was someone in your own town.

Is it? I mean, we aren't the ones in the relationship. Only you and she can come up with an answer for that one. Long distance relationships can work, it just depends on the two involved. If both of you are committed 100% and can deal with the infrequent visits and everyday stuff boyfriend and girlfriends get to do, then it will work. But only if you want it to.

I had a long distance relationship and it is BAD BAD! He was saying how much he loved me and later I found out the whole time he was actually seeing somebody else. If u dont get to see eachother often 1 of you are gonna turn.

ppl are in long distant relationships all over the world, so really it has nothing to do with the distance of it...what really matters is are you willing to make it work? are you willing to put time and effort into it? are you willing to trust eachother? ppl always tend to blame it on the distance as to why their relationship failed...but i think it's ppl who make the relationship fail not distance.....you may get lonely but being absent from one another has it's benefits....b/c you will miss eachother and it will make you appreciate that person alot more.....so i don't think long distant relationships are bad it just all depends on who your involved with.

It depends!

If you have the means to see them, it can work. One of the ladies I am seeing is in another state and she is comfortable with seeing me about twice a month. I either fly her out or I go see her.
Once again, I have the means to be able to see her when we want so it has worked out so far.

Is it true love? That is the first question. Will it be possible in the future for you to be with her?
