The apostle Matthew wrote the gospel of Matthew. Matthew was a tax collector before becoming a disciple of Jesus the Christ. As a tax collector Matthew would have been very adept at keeping records and would have had great attention to detail. Hence, his gospel is lengthier than the gospels of Mark or John.
