I put the pill on the back of my tongue and take a sip of water and swallow

I just had to start giving my 6-year old daughter medication by mouth and the easiest way we found for her to swallow a pill was to take a mouth full of juice (not water) and slip the pill in between her lips, tilt her head back and swallow. That worked the best for her.

There are a couple of ways that work best. #1 put the pill in your mouth, take a large amount of water into your mouth, put your chin toward your chest, and swallow. #2 put the pill in pudding or applesauce. Since it will have a "vehicle", you probably not even notice the pill.
Tilting your head back actually narrows the throat. Putting your chin toward your chest opens it, as well as keeping stuff from going down too fast.

I have to physically put it into my throat. If I attempt to swallow it the normal way it just rides back up my tongue, so I put it at the top of my throat and swallow, sometimes after i have swallowed it i have to drink water, other times I dont, it just depends on how far back I placed it and how far down it got after i swallowed it.

Kinda like the truth. You squint your eyes, hold your breathe, place the pill on the back of your tongue, and take a swallow of water with it, and swallow BIG!

Get your favorite drink and take a large gulp-pop the pill into your mouth and swallow it and all of the liquid hole- basically forget that the pill is in there.

the way i swallow a pill is that i stick it down my throat with my finger. If I try to swallow it the "conventional way" (i.e. swallowing it water) it gets stuck on my tongue and starts to taste nasty. So I avoid that by sticking it down with my finger.

instead of putting it at the back of your mouth and tilting it back with liquid, try tilting your head forward and swallowing it with liquid. It doesn't seem to feel as strange this way. I had my daughter do this and she had no problem.
