Brad Paisley - Man he didn't have to be. The lyrics are:

When a single mom goes out on a date with somebody new
It always winds up feeling more like a job interview
My momma used to wonder if she'd ever meet someone
Who wouldn't find out about me and then turn around and run

I met the man I call my dad when I was five years old
He took my mom out to a movie and for once I got to go
A few months later I remember lying there in bed
I overheard him pop the question and prayed that she'd say yes

And then all of a sudden
Oh, it seemed so strange to me
How we went from something's missing
To a family
Lookin' back all I can say
About all the things he did for me
Is I hope I'm at least half the dad
That he didn't have to be

I met the girl that's now my wife about three years ago
We had the perfect marriage but we wanted somethin' more
Now here I stand surrounded by our family and friends
Crowded 'round the nursery window as they bring the baby in

And now all of a sudden
It seemed so strange to me
How we've gone from something's missing
To a family
Lookin' through the glass I think about the man
That's standin' next to me
And I hope I'm at least half the dad
That he didn't have to be

Lookin' back all I can say
About all the things he did for me
Is I hope I'm at least half the dad
That he didn't have to be

Yeah, I hope I'm at least half the dad
That he didn't have to be
Because he didn't have to be
You know he didn't have to be

Try talking with him about it maybe offer a few suggestions. I too am in a similar position, my dad is still alive, but we don't talk. My step dad will be walking me down the aisle and dancing with me, however, I don't call him dad, so wouldn't want a song mentioning dad. I plan to discuss it with him and get his opinion on the song choice though.

I wanted to choose something different for my dance. I picked "More than words" by Extreme. But the are some that are common (and boring!) like "Butterfly Kisses" and "You Look Wonderful Tonight" Ask your dj for a song list and download some different ones that would resemble your relationship. Don't pick a song aimed towards fathers and daughters. You may not be close to your real father, but don't offend him by picking a song meant for a father and daughter.

Go to fairplaymusicalgifts.com go to samples and download Song For The Parents of the Bride You may not want this to dance to but it is a really sappy mushy song parents love.

"In My Daughter's Eyes" by Martina McBride
Lyrics:

In my daughter's eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I wanna be
In my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light and the
world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me gives me
strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes

And when she wraps her hand
around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about

It's hangin' on when your heart
has had enough
It's giving more when you feel like giving up
I've seen the light
It's in my daugter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes I can see the future
A reflection of who I am and what will be
Though she'll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone I hope you see how happy
she made me
For I'll be there
In my daughter's eyes

Good luck and congratualations!! :)
