No, it is right and proper to hold God above your country.
Civil allegiance is the duty of loyalty and obedience which a person owes to the country of which he is a citizen.
Citizens are obliged in conscience not to follow the directives of civil authorities that are contrary to
+ The demands of the moral order
+ The fundamental rights of persons
+ The teachings of the Gospel.
Refusing obedience to civil authorities, when their demands are contrary to those of an upright conscience, finds its justification in the distinction between serving God and serving the political community.
+ Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. (Matthew 22:21)
+ We must obey God rather than men. (Acts 5:29)
With love in Christ.

No its not wrong to hold your GOD above your country. Your country will not die for you. Your country will not give you everything you need and some of the things you want but I'm pretty sure your GOD will. Go to your government and ask them if you were kidnapped by terrorist would they negotiate to save your life and see what the response. Then go to your GOD and I bet without one doubt in my mind, your GOD will give you the exact answer you seek.

That's not the sword of Damocles kind of thing is it?
God before country? I don't know if its a right or wrong kind of thing.
Being a Wiccan I believe God is in all things, and all things are in God. So for me, God is part of my country.

that is a deeply personal question, so answers will differ greatly. it is my belief that you should live for yourself, and not bind yourself to any other intangible concept or entity. however since you asked, i think it is much wiser to hold your country in higher esteem than your god because your country is far less conceptual and more concrete. while living for god may be all well and good, it is easy to become distracted by the concept of living for a diety who shakes his finger at you from paradise and lose track of what is actually happening in your life. living for your country is more participatory, while living for god is more observant and judgemental. no, it isnt "wrong" per se, but it is extremely limiting. look at the vatican, they wouldnt acknowledge evolution for years because they were focused on their own ideals. i say live for yourself and your own beliefs because when you are old and dying, it will be comforting to think that you made all your important decisions free of the influence of clever rhetoric and overly glorified ideas

Yes. But not religion over your country. God is peace. Religion is often confused for spirituality and it is quite the opposite. Religion like nationalism divides people from each other and creates pain and strife.
If religion and nationalism could be crammed in a toilet and flushed away, we'd all be better off.

No. Religion transcends even the boundaries and laws of your country (provided it does not offer illegal teachings). The US Marines, for example, teach the following order: God, Country, Family. Even they, as soldiers, recognize that God supercedes their service to their country.

No element out of God in the structure. and some expenses: George Washington: "the united states of united statesa. must have a beginning loose from the impression of clergy." James Madison: "religious bondage shackles and debilitates the thoughts and unfits it for each noble corporation." Benjamin Franklin: "Lighthouses are better sensible than church homes." "the thanks to be sure through faith is to close the interest of reason." John Adams; "Twenty cases in the technique my late interpreting, have I been upon the point of breaking out: this may be the finest of all accessible worlds, if there have been no faith in it!" "In formation of the yankee authorities...it isn't pretended that any persons employed in that service had interviews with the gods, or were in any degree less than the impression of heaven." Thomas Jefferson: "question with boldness even the existence of a god." "I truly have lately been interpreting each and every of the universal superstitions of the international, and do not discover in our particular superstition (Christianity) one redeeming function. they're all alike, depending upon fables and mythologies." "Christianity is the most perverted equipment that ever shone on guy...perverted into an engine for enslaving mankind." The Founding Fathers were, as you'll discover, truly antagonistic in the direction of religion having something to do with the founding of the rustic. And as yet another respondent said, in straight forward words 3 of the ten commandments resemble American regulations.

No. If you believe in God, he comes first. Why would you deny God anything for what men want?
