Plan an outdoor wedding ... you can do it at the lake or in the park and many times there is no charge. My wedding was on family property next to a lake and we picked wildflowers for arrangements and for my bouquet. It was beautiful, we had many compliments and the whole wedding cost less than $300.

Phone around you maybe surprised by prices. The reception hall for my wedding is in a Holiday Inn Express and it is 300 (iIam using all three of their rooms they attach to make one big room but can be rented separately). Also try comunity halls and organizations like the Mason's,Eagles, Knights of Columbus.

My friend's husband's dad is a firefighter. They have a firefighter hall which they got for only $50.00 for the entire weekend (Friday to set up, Saturday for the reception, Sunday to tear down). The normal going rate on it for 1 night was $150.00, let alone for 3 nights.

Check with family members about clubs and orginizations. We got the hall for our reception for free because we booked very close to the date of the reception, and the reception hall was not already booked, so there was little chance it'd get booked out, plus it was a Friday instead of Saturday, and because my grandpa was a member of the club.

Look for community centers in your local area. Also try banquet hall in golf courses. Oh and churches may have good ones too! It all depends on the amount of people. Use Yahoo local search and look for rental halls...thats what I did!

You might also want to consider getting married on a day other than Saturday. I got married on a Friday and the hall was cheaper. Or you might also want to try around a big holiday weekend. Good Luck!!!

Look for family members who belong to the American Legion, VFW, Elks Club etc. If you or they are members you can usually rent their halls at low or no cost.

Go to www.theknot.com and click on wedding planning, then on your state and go to reception sites, once there choose to search for places by pricing. That should help you, otherwise you should try to find local community centers or parks.
