police street justice, or processing juveniles through the court system?

Uh, you're kidding, or being facetious right?

Law enforcement personnel are sworn to uphold the law. To degrade oneself by stooping to levels that perpertrators do makes any officer partaking in "street justice" a criminal, and therefore not truly an officer of the law, and not worthy to carry a badge.

The court system is not perfect, but it's what we got. When citizens get tired enough of youthful offenders stealing their hard earned belongings or assaulting them and begin to petition the law makers, then the court system may finally begin to work the way we all hope.

Any adult, police officer or otherwise, who takes out physical justice on an intellectually and emotionally immature person...read juvenile (sorry folks, that's what they are) are cowards. Part of L.E. is rehab. Cops aren't just about putting people in jail, they also assist in programs to help kids stay out of trouble.

I echo Lesley P in saying:

"Law enforcement personnel are sworn to uphold the law ... Any adult, police officer or otherwise, who takes out physical justice on an intellectually and emotionally immature person...read juvenile (sorry folks, that's what they are) are cowards."

It is ignorant to believe that being a vigilante whether it is as a police officer or not can be justified. No serious police officer or any person involved in the criminal justice system would accept "street justice" especially since it perpetuates the idea that violence is acceptable. Look at the Cincinnati 2001 riots (and most other race riots) violence begets violence which begets more violence which perpetuates and begets hatred.

Additionally, processing juveniles through the court system and in turn imprisoning them is not always the most effective way of dealing with juvenile criminals. There are more rehabilitative and habilitiative ways of getting juveniles on the "right" track that do not involve placing them in an institution around other criminals.

Police street justice, because processing juveniles just takes them through the system and a lot of times they get away with "murder" so to speak. It doesn't mean that police street justice is right, just more effective.

Street justice is wrong! It's like vigilante justice which is also wrong, this is why we have a court system, so that the law can work properly. Does anyone remember you are to be seen as innocent until PROVEN guilty???

Street justice with a two phase attack. First you beat the life out of the kid, then go to the parents house & beat their azz so when they are on the news or a talk show telling how sweet their child is, they can not say it with a strait face (litterally cuz their nose has been knocked sideways & their jaw is crooked & broke).

As long as you can get away with the street justice, go for it. Many of these punks do not know any other language, than a kick to the nuts. Its sad, but things are getting worst with young offenders, and parents are not doing enough or afraid to do anything, for fear of retaliation. God help us.
