The bible does not teach that at all.
The scriptures show what happens at death
ECCLESIASTES 9:5, 10
So we cant go on to be someone else if it's the end of us when we die.
JOHN 5:28,29 shows the only hope for the dead
It was God's original purpose that we live forever on the earth. Look at ROMANS 5:12.
If Adam & Eve hadn't disobeyed then death wouldn't be in our genes. Mankind would be living forever. And just because they disobeyed (with Satan's influence) it doesn't mean that God's purpose won't be fufilled.
ISAIAH 55:10,11
That is God's purpose for mankind. To live forever on paradise earth and to worship our Creator.

Interesting idea. A bit like playing a computer adventure game - restarting each time you make a mistake until you "win" ?
As far as I'm concerned you do, as a consciousness, continue to exist after the body dies, and you may or may not go on to "climb in" another body at some point along the way.
So you could consider your next life as your "second chance", but there's two main problems:
1) amnesia between lives - do you remember your mistakes and therefore how to correct them?
2) cultural changes - what was a "sin" in 1500 is not necessarily so in 2000, or vice versa.
In addition to this, is not your presented philosophy a kind of "negative gain" philosophy? ie you're trying to prevent something bad from the past, instead of just creating something good, freshly in the present & future.
I'm a Scientologist, and your "second chance" philosophy sounds very similar to purpose of the "Reactive Mind" - holding onto past bad experiences (given or received) in order to ensure they never happen again. Because of the Reactive Mind, people are actually doing this all the time, reactively, beneath their own awareness level. Factually you're better off without such a mechanism, because you are inately good and creative, and should acknowledge this about yourself.
I recommend instead point 11 from the Scientology Code of Honour:
Never regret yesterday. Life is in you today, and you make your tomorrow.

You sinned in this life so what a crazy cylce of sin. The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short. The thing you are taking about is a never ending thing. But Christ is the way. He can save you from your sins if you only believe. Why would God allow you to keep falling short and not lend a hand to help. Accpect his help in this life before its too late

If we do not know that it is a 'second chance', how would it benefit us, and, therefore, what would it matter if it is? This lack of knowledge is a good argument against the idea, as it is entirely possible that the same person, faced with the same situation would react in the same way each time; so, again, what would be the point?

You've set the limits a bit too low. I'm going to write it out in first-person singular terms- present and personal.
I am a second chance for my mother, father and everyone who has gone before who believes in the things I believe in. All of these people- whose second chance is now me- were in their own time the second chance for those who came before them. And so on and so on in a near-infinite regress.
Life brings forth new lives and supports the development of those lives. We humans live as bodies and minds and awarenesses with complex sets of feelings. Perhaps other creatures live in somewhat the same manner. It is only our inability to communicate with these other creatures that keeps us from knowing their experiences and reflections. I can talk to humans, so I can compare my experiences, thoughts and feelings with those of my fellow humans.
I can remember being a very small child with very little skill in language. I have talked to (actually LISTENED to) many other people whose personal memory doesn't go back to their pre-linguistic time as a small child. For whatever reason, I think I have pretty good odds of being able to remember a past life if I had any. I don't. I've been told that I have to have had past lives because everyone has had them. Whatever. I am proud of my ability to remember and I know where I've been. And where I HAVEN'T been.
The purpose of life is to continue life. It needs no other purpose. Life is its own reward. No individual life gets to continue forever, but every life can pass life along to a new generation. Our genes remember who our ancestors were. Our DNA builds our bodies as ever-developing, ever-refining copies of our ancestors.
For the past few thousand years, human develpoment has been geared toward mental and spiritual development. Our genes carry this message and memory.
That's enough for me.
Blessings to you.

Our purpose is to get out of the controversy alive by accepting Jesus Christ. Dejavu I believe is the compilation our thoughts from time to time which forms a picture of situations that we expect to have a particular outcome, subconsciously, and very rarely things line up just right and we experience what we call Dejavu.
Great Controversy:
All humanity is now involved in a great controversy between Christ and Satan regarding the character of God, His law, and His sovereignty over the universe. This conflict originated in heaven when a created being, endowed with freedom of choice, in self-exaltation became Satan, God's adversary, and led into rebellion a portion of the angels. He introduced the spirit of rebellion into this world when he led Adam and Eve into sin. This human sin resulted in the distortion of the image of God in humanity, the disordering of the created world, and its eventual devastation at the time of the worldwide flood. Observed by the whole creation, this world became the arena of the universal conflict, out of which the God of love will ultimately be vindicated. To assist His people in this controversy, Christ sends the Holy Spirit and the loyal angels to guide, protect, and sustain them in the way of salvation. (Rev. 12:4-9; Isa. 14:12-14; Eze. 28:12-18; Gen. 3; Rom. 1:19-32; 5:12-21; 8:19-22; Gen. 6-8; 2 Peter 3:6; 1 Cor. 4:9; Heb. 1:14.)

Purpose of life is nothing.
It's going on it's preplanned order. Perhaps Karma.
But you can make it meaningful. Give it a meaning
Say living with love, Passion, politeness, helping to others, fighting against inequities and so on.
Then the life turn to a Ecstasy music. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!

Not a chance. Once a person dies, there is no second chance. The only chance you get is to ask for forgiveness and try again. We all sin, and when we mess up we are to immediately ask for forgiveness. We should desire not to sin, but having a sinful nature like we do, it's likely we'll mess up. That's why we need Jesus.

Lifes purpose is to know God, to love Him, and tell the world about Him. To know Jesus, and ask Him to be your own personal saviour. To love Him enough to obey Him, and wittness for Him and lead others to His unconditional love and plan for their lives, and to forgiveness.
As far as a previous life, Bible says NO to that one. Yet, we are to learn from our mistakes here on this earth, and to stop doing those things that are wrong and lead to destruction. Yes, we are to learn from our mistakes. and hopefully others see and learn from our mistakes too, and wont need to make the same ones. But, we dont come from another life. God created each one of us, as individuals. God does have a plan for us to follow that will lead us to full victory in Him in every area of our life, to bring us peace, love and joy and a lifetime of fullfillment and purpose for HIM. But, He doesnt make us life that life, its all choice. Isnt God good??? All the time, He is good. amen
