If cost is not an issue...
Per Se - Time Warner Center - one of the best restaurants in the city today from Jean Georges...expensive but worth it!
Nobu - amazing sushi, beautiful setting and top service
Spice Market - incredible setting in the heart of the Meat Packing district, great pan-Asian food
Babbo - although it is Italian, it is also Mario Batali so they use ingredients that you will probably not find in many other generic Italian restaurants like boar, sweetbreads, quail, etc...
You can find menus and contact information for all the above at menupages.com

Well here's a suggestion. Ruth's Chris Steak House. It a very nice romantic restaurant that serves steak. LOL. Trust me it's nice. I've been there and it was great. The steak was juicy and savored in buttered. I can taste it now. It is located on the west side. 148 W. 51st Street btwn 6th & 7th Avenue. Number is (212) 245-9600. And then when you are done, you can walk it off to Rockefeller Plaza, which is just up the block between 5th & 6th Avenue, and check out the huge tree. Sounds like a romantic evening to me.

Cajun on 16th & 8th. Authentic Cajun food. It's like stepping into the French Quarter in New Orleans. And they have live music on weekends.
The View - Marriot Hotel 45th & Broadway. Excellent food near the top of the hotel. The restaurant revolves, so the view is constantly changing. Very elegant place.

Nobu on 105 Hudson (I think) and order the chef's special, where he creates a number of original and elegantly plated appetizers (a lot) and it is served as a meal. Then order the green tea ice cream and chocolate torte. It is so wonderful and the atmosphere is so beautiful! The service is always great and I am always delightfully surprised every time I go.
