I never noticed how much better I was treated for being nice looking until I let myself go. I stopped dressing up nice, wearing make-up and put on a little weight. People stopped noticing me, talking to me as much, and being so friendly. Guys stopped looking and I just didn't see the smiley faces I used to.

Now I've lost weight, started wearing make-up and looking better. Now people always tell me how sexy I am, beautiful, and treat me better. Not just men but women too! I get more smiling faces from passer-byers, friendly greetings, and the cops are always nice to me. It must suck to be ugly and fat because you just don't get treated the same way.

I'm thankful for what I have and realized that fixing myself up is not so shallow. If it makes your day more pleasent and makes you feel better about yourself then why the heck shouldn't you do so? I mean, why go to college or educate yourself? Isn't it all about making your life better in the end?

I knew it! When I was fat and ugly I tried to convince myself that only my brain mattered. But no one ever gave me the chance to show it off. I'm so glad I'm beautiful now! I'm saving up for that nose job now!!!

This is an interesting question!

I think there are pros and cons to being either way. Beautiful people are often seen as unapproachable and aloof, people can assume that they are vain and egotistical. I also think it's difficult to be attractive because you never really know why people are interested in you, is it just for your looks?

If you carry a little extra weight, you can be sure that people that are interested in you aren't judging you on your looks alone, they must see something worth knowing other than a size zero figure.

I think, in your case, that the way you were perceived when you (in your words) "Let yourself go" was as a woman with no confidence - it didn't have anything to do with your appearence, merely that because you were unhappy with the way you looked, you lacked self esteem and it showed. People can pick up on someone with no confidence from a mile away and it's not the most attractive quality to have.

I think that when you lost weight and started to feel better about yourself, you will have started to exude confidence and projected yourself in a more positive way - which people then responded to. I don't think it matters what weight someone is, it's all about how you perceive yourself.

Beautiful people are treated better, but beauty fades. Education will last a life time. Nothing wrong in looking good AND being smart.

Yes, people who have a better outward appearance are obviously easier to approach. And yes caring about your outward appreance isn't shallow its important to look after yourself :-)

It sounds like you have already answered your own question. Personally I don't think being fat means that someone is ugly. Obese maybe...but not ugly so much as concern. My DH is getting a little chubby and I love it. He looks so much better and is much more relaxed.

It's true. When I was thin, blonde and into music/clothes I got treated awesomely. When I was fat, brunette and intellectual I was ignored.

It's a fact of life. People are nicer to people they are attracted to.
