Someone suggested "ego saucius, ergo sum" but is there not a verb that would parallel "cogito" in "cogito, ergo sum"?

Ego saucius means I (am) hurt/wounded. Saucior (I am hurt) is the verb you would use. It ends with r because it requires a passive construction (saucio means I hurt - you are the one doing the hurting). If you were looking for some other options that are active in form, here are a couple:

Doleo, ergo sum (I suffer pain)
Condolesco, ergo sum (I suffer severely / I feel much pain)

"Patior ergo sum" means "I suffer, therefore I am."
