no they don't deny it or aknowledge it either. they just ignore it. since a priest is perfect and speaks for God himself then it is impossible for him to hurt children and therefore if anyone complains then the priest is moved to another city to start his inflicting pain on children all over with new people.
The doctrine of the Nicolaitans was mentioned in the Apocalypse of John Revelation chapter 2. It is a symbolic name of a group of people that represents the hierarchy of a ruling class over the rest of the people, developing a pecking order of fleshly leadership. Jesus hates this and warns the people to repent. It is not the question of the ministries but rather in the separation of them into a hierarchy over the people. This very idea was taken over by the Protestants with their own corruption of leadership roles and coverings. The Church of Ephesus was commended for hating the deeds of the Nicolaitans. The wrong separation of the clergy from the laity is a great evil in God's sight and He hates the lust for religious power over others. There is an ungodly spiritual authority in the Church today, which is nothing more than the prideful spirit of control, manipulation, domination and intimidation and a rebellion of the rightful authority of God.

Every parish (local church community) is different. A few years ago my pastor (and boss) decided to cancel ALL the second collections and, instead, to contribute 5% of each week's collection to the secondary fund. So, for example, one week a month the 5% goes to sending disadvantaged youths to summer camp, the next is for Birthright, the next is spent helping people who can't pay their utilities ... etc.
NATIONALLY and INTERNATIONALLY, any therapeutic needs that arise from the abuse of power and authority of ANY church employee is covered by the church's own insurance companies. Trouble is, many people don't want therapy - they just want cash (because money fixes everything, right?). That makes it very difficult to help the healing process when someone who is hurt does not want to be healed.
In our own diocese, there was a priest who was himself molested as a young altar server. He was offered counseling, a full disability package with pension and benefits, and an offer to relocate anywhere of his choosing. But he didn't want to never have to work a day in his life. No, he wanted to hurt someone, just like he had been hurt. See what good it does?

To blame the whole church for something very few (less than one percent) of the priests are doing is unfair. More teachers than priests hurt children. Should you condemn teachers? Pedophiles seek respectable positions that would allow them access to children. (teachers, scout leaders, coaches, priests) This is not because of any celebacy laws. Once these people are in these positions they abuse the trust they are given. (whether a priest or teacher) Many other Christians hate Catholics and so try to make it sound like they are all evil. Facts are facts--most priests do not abuse anyone. (much less than one percent)There are many Catholics in the world and they make an easy target but get your facts straight. As a parent I have a responsibility to my children. I must protect them. I would not allow anyone unrestricted access to them. I do not care whether it was a teacher, coach, priest, rabbi, scout leader, friend, or any other adult.
It is interesting at the amount of hate in the question and in the replies. I assume none of you are Christians because you certainly aren't acting like it.

The catholic church set up a retreat outside Santa Fe New Mexico for priests that molest children more than 70 years ago. They have known about it for a long time.

The first collection is often used to help the Dioceses that went bankrupt due to the the large amount of money they were ordered to pay to the victims of the pedophile priests that were protected by their church. I guess those nasty judges and jurors will at least be excommunicated. How dare they condemn the Church ?
And after all, when the priest were molesting and raping their defenseless victims, it was because God told them so was it not ?

The Catholic church still ensures that they maintain a solid number of pedophiles with their false doctrine of celibacy for priests. People that have this tendency are drawn toward the Catholic priesthood in hopes that God will change them. The reality is that they have joined the church of Satan, and God will not help them, so they give into their lower nature.

This question needs clarification. The Catholic Church takes up many second collections. What are you talking about?
