freedom of expression and to wear what we want. It is not neccersary to cover from tip to toe. I love living in the UK, and would not move anywhere else (apart from a few countries) simply because I would be given up my rights as a woman. We get treated better here than alot of other places in the world, even countires that are predominantly muslim. Yes I agree there are some people that don't like our religion but thats life, everyone has their own opinions get on with it. We can't pick at every little thing, we should just get on with it......Who agrees??

PS.The purpose of the Q was that alot of people seem to say that muslims dont amdmit their flaws.

As a Muslim women living in Egypt by choice I have to disagree with you dear sister. Not all Muslim countries are like you think. And what goes on here against women is not part of Islam. Sometimes for being in a Muslim country there is not much Islam.

I love it there though and don't want to go back to the US, unfortunately do to paper work I have to. But I will not take off my veil to please others. I wore it in the states before I came to Egypt and will wear it when I go back. If they don't like it thats their problem. Your defending the freedom sis then why can't I wear the veil.

I am not arguing with you sister, yes alot of SO CALLED Muslim countries have a lot of issues. But it's not Islam they are following.

I do however agree that we should not pick at every little thing. I am the one to always let things go. I don't like to cause a scene when others are rude or ignorant to me. I leave them to be dealt with by God. But if I am cause harm I will go to the proper authorities and file a complaint. Or if I was refused service or was not helped I will file a complaint with management. Just because I am Muslim does not give them the right to do these things to me.

If the US and UK are going to preach freedom then why are so many trying to take it away from Muslims and Muslim women who choose to wear the veil. If they don't' like it then don't wear it.

Since I'm not a Muslim I cannot answer to your question. However I want to say that the Muslim people I have met and befriended here in Canada are ones of the most brilliant, open minded and humorous people I have ever met. There's a lot of hope for human mutual understanding and peace because of out such rich and strong tradition there emerge remarkable people.

I am a Christian who lived in Istanbul for many years, and I agree with you that the UK and the US have some of the most enlightened laws regarding freedom of religion. I cannot agree with, for example, the French laws outlawing the wearing of scarves and also crosses in school. If I was a Muslim girl I would wear my scarf to school, in protest. I do not agree either with the Kemalists in Turkey outlawing the fez, although I do agree with their position of separation of state and religion, though there is a danger of taking anything too far.

They receive each and every of the benefits and yet critisize, moan, call for sharia regulation and some even hotel to bombing. The british society treats all asians an same way yet i do no longer discover asian hindus or sikhs or buddhists or jews complaining or committing heinous acts. the actuality is muslims discover it puzzling to stay in a non muslim secular society it truly is apparent even in asian international places like india. Their faith makes it puzzling to settle for human beings of different cultures or religions. there's no genuine secular authorities the position muslims are maximum individuals.

Ok maybe if you moved to Afghanistan you'd lose freedoms as a woman but seriously it is not going to kill you to dress in fill aya or whatever the full traditional Muslim woman dress is. I know in Saudi you are expected to do that. And who cares about rights as long as you are following Islam? Honestly I'd be more concerned with pleasing ALLAH than some stupid mortal rights.

Yes i agree some Muslim named countries dont treat Muslims like any other European countries. But i dont agree to your idea about covering ourselves. Its necessary and its an obligation for a Muslimah. We have to thankful for everything Allah has given to us and im thankful to Him for everything, im not complaining as you said.

May Allah bless you

Wow...theres hope for you.

I have no respect for Islam, in fact, I am sure its the biggest problem facing the entire human race, that said, I know all Muslims are humans, and despite the idealogy, there are some who rise above it.

I respect what you just said. My experience is, its very very rare in the Islamic community. Which makes it all the more praiseworthy.

Best Wishes
