One of my supervisors wears a very overwhelming amount of perfume. It stagnates the air in my office giving me a migraine and itchy and watery eyes. Is there something i can do to counteract the smell? Or clean the air? Telling her about her perfume is just not an option.

Covering her perfume with air freshener makes a bad thing worse - odors with both migraines and asthma can be major triggers. Air fresheners can be triggers, too, unfortunately.

Opening windows, especially at this time of year, unless you're in an area that has climate rather than weather (Southern California, maybe?) may not be an option.

Moving your desk or your supervisor's desk could possibly be an option, unfortunately, this would probably only work if it's between floors, and you never see your supervisor again.

Extraordinary filtration in the air ducting system may be an option, but probably one the building is willing to pay for.

Believe it or not, though, this is actually be an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) issue. Migraine is a neurological disease. Your supervisor is preventing you from functioning to your potential within the workplace. This may also be impacting on people in your workplace who have asthma, so your supervisor may not just be a problem for you.

Also of note is the potential impact this is having from a customer relations aspect. If she has contact with customers or clients at all, and any of these customers is affected by her perfume, health-wise, this is a problem. If she has contact with customers or clients and they are offended by her perfume (I've encountered that, too), again, this is a problem.

The ADA issues and the customer relations issues need to be brought up to...someone.

You could call them to your supervisor's attention or to her supervisor's attention. To do so, you could do them in person or anonymously (in a letter, perhaps?) But this is something that needs to be done.

you can:
1. cover your nose with a clip (those that wear the swimming athletes)
2. spray air freshener
3. have a lot of Tylenol and Kleenex
4. talk to her, you have rights too!

Oh hell, don't cover it up, that just adds to the toxicity! LOL
Let HER boss know (discreetly) that her perfume is funking up your air to the point of nausea...It is his/her job to speak to Stinkella about the problem. Its equivalent to working next to someone who has B.O.
You wouldn't suffer through that, would ya?
