You can not have one extreme without the other. Great Good is recognized because of great evil, Love does not exist without hate, happiness does not exist without sadness.

It means that you cannot have one without the other. That each of them are never too far away from the other and utopia can turn into melancholy with just a turn of a coin. That happiness and sadness feed off of each other and are always either have a lot or a little of each.

Things that complete each other, one opposite cannot live without the other. Good cannot be good unless there is bad to make it look good.

how we can't conceive something without it's opposite. that the opposite of something makes another possible and that they are united by their very being
