Is it possible to join the Royal Navy/Marines/Army without being a citizen of the UK?

No, he/she could not. One has to be a citizen of the UK to join the British military. I spoke to a recruiter once in the british army just on this very subject because I once thought about moving there...but no, sorry, you can't.

Unfortunately, no. Nor can you join if any member of your family (distant or direct relative) was involved in things the military class as 'a security threat' such as if you are cousins with an IRA member or something like that, but that's quite obvious when you think about it.
Although it's odd to want to join the British Military if you're not a resident of the UK.

It was done during wartimes during the last century, but not as of late, you need to have a British Citizenship before you can join, sorry.

the rules of joining the british army if not a uk citizen is

if you are a member of the commonwelth and have lived in the uk for 5 years it is fine for you to join but bear in mind you have to swear an oath of allegienge to queen and country so if you are not committed to queen and country there is no real point

The USA Canada Autralia NZ and The UK allow this between them. (it was done to p off the germans but now the French Howl over this loop hole!)

It was done in 1939. Wartime.
Since we have provision for aliens joining U.S. forces, it's certainly possible.
Contact the nearest U.K. embassy or consulate.
