If god was real, why would there be two main branches of christianity (catholic and protestantism). even if one of them is technically more "correct," then how could god allow that almost half of the adherents to the faith (in the whole world) were following an incorrect version of christianity.

I seen alot of people here argue incorrectly, saying " yeah, well god gives us free will and (yada ,yada yada)" but i think that is missing the point and also, it is insanely perverse to think that someone was using "free will" to choose the branch of christianity that was not the "right one"
If you were born into one of those two branches of christianity and taught it by your parents, and that was the wrong one, there is no free will. ----CONTINUES BELOW---------

So, I ask, If christians are going to act like god is real and takes a part in his followers lives, like revealing himself in some way to them, or by actually listening and answering prayers, and being an actual active part of the course of human events, where was this so-called “hand of providence” when it came to making sure all his followers were following the one true faith?

Even if denominations, for the most part, believe in the same central tenets, it still doesn’t make sense. You would think that god would have sent the story of jesus and all the tenets and commands of this new faith to his followers without any points of contention.

I think we need to leave the Book of Life in God's hands rather than deciding for ourselves who is heaven-bound and who is not. I do not judge Roman Catholics or Baptists or Presbyterians or any other denomination that has their own "truth" of their interpretation of the Bible. That said, I believe there is a "saving faith" that describes Christianity as a whole, even though there are two main branches, one of them being fractured into several hundred denominations.

If the Christian God is real then Satan is also real. And if God represents truth then Satan will always be present with deception and falsehood. Think back to the story of Cain and Able. Able claimed to worship God. So did Cain. But while Able did what God asked, Cain did not. This has been the case for all of Earths history to deceive souls. God has a true church but you can count on Satan to spawn 100 false ones. Those who let the bible be their guide will be led into all truth.

So the fact that there are many versions of Christianity does not prove that there is no God but reaffirms it.

Council of, Congregational Christian Churches, Conservative Congr. Christian Conference, Eastern Orthodox Churches, Episcopal Church, Evangelical Church, Evangelical Congregational Church, Evangelical Covenant Church, Evangelical Free Church of America, Grace Gospel Fellowship, Independent Fundamental Churches of America, Jehovah's Witnesses, Latter-Day Saints, Liberal Catholic Church, Lutheran Churches, Mennonite Churches, Methodist Churches, Metropolitan Community Churches, Missionary Church, Moravian Churches, Nat. And these can be broken down into sub-sects.

Also, consider that Muslims and Jews can also be broken into various sects, and there are many other religions besides them.

Too bad there aren't any real gods out there to set everybody straight.

Catholics and Protestants are just latin heritics. Orthodox Christianity is the only real Christianity.

In this weather, the hand of providence is probably in the sacred mitten.
