feel the need to sell religion via knocking on your dorr and interupting your fav tv show?
Isnt word of mouth good enough these days? And if it isnt why isnt it, why are the churches failing? What does that tell you?

Who needs a church? Who says you have to pray inside of a certain building in order to be saved? Can't you pray just as well at your own home? My church is nature, which I guess makes it where ever I choose to stop and worship the Gods, Goddesses, and Ancestors. And as far as the door-to-door religious sales people. They are upset and their panties are in a bunch because the whole world isn't part of their religion. They're angry because there are other religions out there besides their own. They'll only be happy when they've converted everyone to their faith. Too bad people like me aren't convertable.

To some it is a way of spreading the Gospel. To others, merely a way to promote their own religion. Either reasons being, just roll your eyes and close the door, they're used to that. As far as churches failing, Most fail to greed and immorality in the administration. Most people are tired of supporting churches that promise God's blessings as the minister drives to his 200 thousand dollar home in an over priced Mercedes Benz while so many others can't even get their 500 dollar Dodge to turn over in front of their apartment.
Word of mouth isn't good enough anymore because very few people practice what they preach. So in an attempt to feel good about themselves they find new and , sometimes bothersome, ways to get others to thank them for being a 'believer'. While at the same time most would pray for a country to be saved but wouldn't walk across the street to help an elderly person carry in their groceries. Churches today are suffering from "I" trouble. They can't see the log in their own eye.
I personally am not convinced their is a God as the bible represents him to be. However I am not convinced their is no god either. I remain honest," I don't know."

Religion is a belief.
Faith is something that has been told to share.
The fact that believers may come to you door is called sharing the Word and is what we are instructed to do.
None of them purposely try to disturb you during your favorite activity......there is simply no way of forseeing what another may be involved with when approaching a home.
If not a convenient time for you, simply do not answer.
This should not be taken personally, as you were not expecting this person.
Be thankful that someone cares enough to share with you!...afterall the Lord did thru His Word!

In most cases organized religion is corrupt or bad on many levels. People know this and stay away. When was the last time you stop at a church and thought, the building looks nice and I like the marquee stating that god is love and love is the Cowboys, so I’m going in to see if it is for me? No one does that, so we have to be sold on religion or their religion. In some religions you have to be invited or a card caring member only brought in by invitation or birth. Word of mouth only works if it is bad or a great movie/TV show.

Knocking on your door is word of mouth. No matter what time they come it will be someone's favorite TV show. They figure religion is more important than TV.
I don't see the churches as failing. I actually see an increase in church attendance.
What does this tell me? It tells me you are not imformed when you asked your question.

Well, the religion I was raised in is the Jewish faith, conservative Judaism to be exact, and Jews don't try to convert others. It just isn't part of the Jewish paradigm.
And churches fail because they don't meet the needs of their congregants. Some fail because they don't welcome mixed religion families. Some fail because they are too fundamentalist for most people to be able to live with the edicts. Some fail because a few bad priests spoil the reputation of a perfectly good denomination. Lots of reasons.
People need to find what place of worship works best for them, then get involved and participate!

If your neighbors house was on fire will you consider the fact that they are watching their fav Tv show or will you do all you can to save their life? It is a burning desire to save them from an impending doom and connect them to real life that drives true believers to wade the waters of rejection to connect them with life. So they will be free from the already ignited fire of hell that is burning in their life now. Without Christ people are having hells dress rehearsal so we are devoted firemen seeking to put the fire out. Get Eternal Life! By the way real Christians knock on doors too it is not just JW AND Mormons.

I too don't like being interrupted by Mormons, JWs and the like. I understand, though, why they do it. When you believe you have found the ultimate truth, it's natural to want to share it.
People like me who understand the falsehood of the JWs (who predicted in advance that the Second Coming of Jesus would occur in 1914 and, when nothing happened, started telling everyone that the claimed Second Coming must have occurred "secretly"; and after all that they nonetheless deny the divinity of Jesus) and the Mormons (that there is a multiplicity of gods, and that Yahweh is nothing more than a good Mormon from an earlier universe, who had lots of wives and lots of children, and as his reward was deified and placed in charge of his own universe, ours, among throngs of similar Mormon godlets each in his own universe; and for good measure they too deny the divinity of Jesus) are not likely to wind up in a Mormon or JW church. So they try to drag me in. I won't go, of course, and I think they're in grave error, but I do understand why they try.

The more educated society gets the less people are fooled by religion and the more churches need face-to-face contact to recruit members. Many new Mormons join because they like the missionaries but once that contact ends they leave the Church. What it tells me is that superstition in general is losing it's grip on people

im not going to speak for the mormoms or the other christians but jehovah's witnesses knock on people's doors to spread the truth. and we do not sell anything at all. we do this because jesus told us to do so in the bible, to follow his example. and, for the churches falling, i have no idea but to say that they do not follow the bible, which means they are a false religion. hope this helps
