The first thing to do is contact a local funeral home that you would like to use. Find out as much about the deceased's life insurance policies as well as what they would have wanted as far as where they wanted to be buried, did they want to be creamated, etc. The funeral director will help you pick out a plot either at their cemetary or will help you contact the church if they were a member and want to be buried at the church cemetary. They will also file the paperwork for you for the life insurance to cover the expenses. There are som expenses that aren't covered, like the opening and closing of the gravesite. You or an immediate family member will be required to pay for that prior to the funeral. You will also be shown caskets that you'll have to choose for the funeral, as well as floral sprays. You will decide on the date of the viewing, visitation, funeral, etc. They will also help you with writing an obitiuary if you haven't done so already. They will also order death certificates for you (you'll need about 15). I know its a difficult ordeal to go through, and if you're planning on doing it for yourself, like a pre-funeral, thats even better. You take the worry out of it for those you leave behind. One word of advice, don't let them pressure you into getting anything you don't want. They are salespeople too, and they will try to sell you the most elaborate casket there is, the most expensive funeral spray, etc. See them as salespeople and you won't be cuckolded into getting something you don't really want. Good luck.

Contact the funeral home. See if there was an insurance policy ( life or burial. The funeral home should assist you with the important matters. Rely on close family and friends to help with the little things. Most of all know that God already has things in control.
