I am desperately trying to find a symbol of soulmates one that represents the coming together of two souls type thing... any ideas?

There are many tattoo sites on the web. Also you can ask any artist (tattoo), what they think. I have 10 of them. They would be glad to help you. Rob here in Omaha helped me design my last one. So just look around and make some calls. Good Luck

Souls are our body outside of the flesh so I think maybe you should get two flames wrapping around each other, or two flowers, or two spirits. It's not an easy thing to figure out though.

Personaly me and my girlfriend like and plan on getting the same type ours is going to be a locked up heart on my chest and she will have the key with some other things on it.

why does it have to be something that "means" soulmates? can't you just get something that reminds you and your soulmate of your love? for instance.... if i were going to get a tattoo to remind me of my husband and our relationship... i would want to get a lobster. why? because that is what reminds me of soulmates but for everybody it's different. and that would be something more unique and special.
