i've been on zoloft, paxil, amitriptyline, and others, in the past years. i was rx'd cymbalta about 4 months ago, and it has been like a miracle drug for me. it is also helpful if you have nerve pain, from nerve damage due to back injuries, etc. ask your doc about it. i also take xanax for my anxiety/panic disorder. i hope this was helpful to you. best of luck.
**clinical depression CANNOT be overcome by will power, etc. that person prob had situational depression. clinical depression is a chemical imbalance. ppl who say, get over it, think happy thoughts, etc do not know what it's like to suffer from diagnosed clinical depression!!!

I swear I could have wrote the above. I've been on antidepressants too, but while SSRI's like Zoloft(which I also found to be the worst) improve depression and anxiety, they made it harder to concentrate or hold a thought. I think you really need to tell your psychiatrist what is troubling you the most. The inability to concentrate and/or the depression. You may have ADD and not even know it. Or have both.

Go see a doctor, but most likely, you would be prescribed some form of anti-depressant drug like Paxil, or Prozac
first and foremost, you need to address the root cause of the problem, not the symptoms
what is the source of your depression? is it work, money, life, family, etc?
what can you do to change your current situation? a person cannot be helped if he/she is not willing to help him/her self
find a source of strength, be it religion, a friend or relative, a new hobby or interest, or some social activity
depression can be defeated if you know what it is and what is causing it
good luck and best wishes to a speedy recovery

Antidepressent drugs have not been around since the begining of time. Any type of depression or anxiety you feel with or without the drug is simply your body telling you that you lack something. Perscription drugs are like a bandaid. You put one on and then eventually you have to replace it because it was not meant to last. What is actually wrong is a vitamin and or mineral deficincy. Ask a doctor who really knows what they are talking about and are willing to admit to you this. I have taken Mineral Rich by Marene Salamen. www.makinghealthychoices.com it is not a instant cure but remember it took awhile for your body to get deprived of such things and it will take time to replace those valuable minerals and vitamins. B complex is another good one and taking a Vitamin C like about 500mg is also great. I would suggest even writing this person and getting her expert advise about what to do. I do not work this company, I just know about her products and have taken them myself and they work.
Hope this helps
