he was standing on my lap just looking at me as normal. he has no medical problems. he did it on purpose. i've had him for 4 years & he's never done anything like that before. it wasn't a ''spray'', it was a pee.

You say the cat has no medical problems, but it could be something like a urinary tract infection. That will often cause cats to pee at unexpected times. It's also not easy to detect other than the pee problems, so I would have the vet do a test to see.

It's also possible the cat doesn't like the condition of the litterbox.

There are a few reasons why cats urinate outside of the liter box, medical or behavioral, is your cat young or older? is the litter box cleaned daily? did you change the litter or the litter box? are there othe cats or dogs inthe house? has anything in the house changed recently? Is this the first time it's ever happened?

My cat did this too me once as well. She was never much of a cuddler, then one day she jumps up on my lap and just lets it go! I was pregnant at the time, and the vet said she was sensing the changes in our home and was letting me know she was NOT impressed.

My cat did that to me. He was around the same age. I didn't get up to take him to the potty outside. And he peed on my leg while I was sitting down. He hasn't done that again. But he has went potty in front of the back door when we didn't make it home in time to take him out. I think he just wanted to let me know if you don't like it you better not forget me.

My cat peed on me once when she was really nervous about new people in the house but otherwise it's never happened again - if it happens again thing about getting him checking for a UTI

Did you get another pet or person in your household recently?
Something is making him territorial. In fact he may just have sexually matured and is marking his belongings.
In case you haven't yet learned it, cats own us, we don't own cats.
