I think true Love can only be felt like GOD, but can never be understood by our logical mind.

What we "like" can turn into "dislike". But true love always stays!

God's very nature expresses LOVE. When humanity failed to live up to what God required of them God who is LOVE sought humanity out because He loves them more than they can understand in this life. The greatest expression of God being LOVE is revealed in God's Son suffering the cruel hatred of His creation on the way to Calvary. While stretched out on a wooden cross and fastened to it by nails he prayed that humanity would be forgiven as he became sin in humanity's place. BEHOLD THE MAN, THE LAMB OF GOD WHO TAKES AWAY THE SIN OF THE WORLD, and receive the free gift of salvation that he purchased for humanity by the shedding of his precious blood. LOVE Hung upon the cross, LOVE flowed from his veins in the blood he shed. LOVE spoke words of forgiveness, "FATHER FORGIVE THEM FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO".

God is the knowable unknown. As much you know and feel about God, the more He becomes distant from you and you cry to get Him as the one and only goal in life. That eternal search itself is the highest love where the lover, the beloved and the concept of love merge to-gather. All the three fused into one. That is what Mahatma Gandhi got in his experiments with Truth. That is what Mother Teresa realized in her life. That is what Truth and Love mean in the sacred Upanishads.

I think there may be a few holes in your thinking, but the concept of God, being nothing more than an idea created by man, can represent anything that anyone might want or desire... so, sail blissfully onward but keep an eye open for hurricanes. That God=Love stuff doesn't seem to always apply and especially when it comes to nature, both the human kind and the naturally occurring physical kind.

I understand the I will ALWAYS love my parents and family... and it's true love that is more like the love we are said to have for god since he is also our father... Love for a husband or boyfriend is different. My dad has forgiven me, given things to me and always been there for me...and I am not the easiest one in the world to have as family.

I think I understand what you are saying, but you are mistaken in thinking that Love is a feeling. It is not, it is an action.

Here's what Paul said about the definition of Love:

"Love is never tired of waiting; love is kind; love has no envy; love has no high opinion of itself, love has no pride; Love's ways are ever fair, it takes no thought for itself; it is not quickly made angry, it takes no account of evil; It takes no pleasure in wrongdoing, but has joy in what is true; Love has the power of undergoing all things, having faith in all things, hoping all things."

You can truly dislike someone and still Love them.

What you say is very wise! But why is God = love? Just because it *is*..

As you said, the logical mind cannot answer.

in the greek there are several words for love...really just different degrees of love, but the greek "Agape" was always used to refer to the love of God. It can most easily be translated as sacrificial love. I agree that god is a love that we can not fathom, however it is ver important to not just focus on the love of god as he is also the judge of the wicked.

Why is God love? The answer lies in His Son Jesus and the fact that He died for YOUR sins and mine. That is true love, a gift that the Father and His Son gave to you. All you have to do is accept it.
