I was at a light and went to hit the gas and my car would not accelerate. I pulled over and cut the car off. I tried to start it up again and then my check light engine came on and it went dead. After a few hours I went back to drive the car home and it did okay for a while and then started stalling. It seems like this problem came out of nowhere. What's wrong with my car?

unlike some people that dont have neons they dont know that they dont have fuel filters (at least not on attached to the fuel pump itself) this is a fuel pump problem cost about 90 bucks
there are 2 kinds
a fuel pump for a metal tank
and a fuel pump for a plastic tank

replacemnt is easy on a plastic tank as long as you have an empty tank i did this once on my 97 with a plastic tank and it took me about 2 hours to do

Lots of issues with this one. Could be fuel filter Fuel injectors fuel tank acceleratore. All sorts of junk. Here is what you do take your car to autozone. They will run a free diagonostic. they can tell you why your check engine light came on. The computer in your car stores information and when run through the diagnostic computer your car will tell you the problem. Normally diagonostic checks cost about 100 dollars but autozone will do it free.

Need a little more information, it sounds like a fuel filter issue. you'll want to have it replaced. If the check engine light was on while the engine was running you can take it to an auto parts store and have them pull the code. they should be able to tell you what the codes mean. other wise you may need to have it towed to a shop and have them do a drive-ability test on it. this will give them the most information and will tell them where to start looking in to your problem.

A dodge Neon is worth a touch pocket replace or the pennies that you discover lower than your settee. Neons have an particularly gruesome visual charm and characteristic small engines. they are not worth something. At maximum i ought to assert $3.50, and that is a beneficiant quote.

well i would have the car scanned, even if the check engine light isn't still on, the code will de stored in the memory. Get some codes and let me know what they are are I'll steer you in the right direction.
