I ask because i have lifted weights for 2 months now and have noticed not one difference at all. Obviously im not expecting big changes but come on be serious, I've seen girls that put on muscle quicker lol! This leads me to think maybe i am not meant to be able to gain any kind of muscle size at all

Everyone has a limit. A person's genetics will help them considerably. Some people have a hard time gaining muscle, and some people have a low max. Women usually have low maxes. Other factors contribute too. Your metabolic rate it a big factor in how fast you gain strength. If you have a stronger skeletal system you can have more muscle. Testosterone production is another big factor. Testosterone increases stamina.

Also, two months is not an appropriate time frame for measuring muscle growth. Work on it a little longer, and girls don't usually have a problem gaining muscle fast. They just usually have low maxes.

'LIFTING WEIGHTS' WILL NOT BUILD MUSCLE, however much you do. If you want to 'bulk up', you need to lift weights IN A WAY THAT STIMULATES GROWTH.

Of course, everything about your body is 'genetic' in some way, but that doesn't mean you can't change it. ALL body tissues adapt to the things they are exposed to.

The main thing to understand, is that everybody's body is different, but the same operations are going on inside all of us. Inability to increase muscle size is a serious medical condition, and you would have noticed other symptoms as well. 'Genetics' is a kind of 'get-out clause' or disclaimer that's used in the sports industry for all sorts of reasons.

Your muscle bulk will only increase if your body thinks you NEED more. In bodybuilding, this is called 'the overload principle', and it leads to the rule which says 'EVERY SET TO FAILURE'.

(If you can complete the final repetition in a set, you have not fully exhausted the power available to the muscle. This indicates to the muscle that it is big enough for the job. Your strength will increase through more organised 'recruitment' (internal skill).

Your muscles also prioritise, according to very primitive survival rules. Endurance is more useful to survival than pure power, so it is built up preferentially. That means your muscle will use the length of your set as a guide to its response. Long sets will tell the muscle that endurance gains are ok.

You need to work heavy, short and fast, to full exhaustion, and leave a long recovery between sessions.

Some people can gain muscle without use of hormones because they consumed the proper diet.

There is a possibility that some people are genetically incapable to increase muscle mass no matter how hard they pump iron or with the help of hormones or proper diet.

It has to do with hormones, specifically testostorone (steroids are artificial testosterone). The more you have, the larger your muscles can be per unit time of working out.

Diet can effect your muscle growth as well, a high protien diet being desirable for more rapid muscle growth.

Not everyone has the body mass to produce big muscles no matter how much effort they put into it. Some guys have more than they need, others just don't. It's something you've inherited from your parents, take it up with them.

some people just don't have enough body fat to turn into muscle. my brother is all muscle and wants to get bigger but he can't b/c he has nothing else to turn into muscle. he does eat a lot of peanut butter and drinks protein drinks and that has helped him gain some weight. Protein, protein, protein.
