Basically they just stand there and look pretty. All you really need is a maid of honor to hold your flowers while you say your vows. I wouldn't go through the hassle.

You need to have legal witnesses to the wedding. I have only ever heard of them being a Maid of Honour and a Best Man, but maybe they don't have to have roles in the wedding at all. Check with your parish priest.

We had a Maid of Honor and Best Man and that was it.

You do not have to have bridesmaids. You will need two people to "stand up" for you, in other words, sign legal documents that state you have been married without being forced and also in a legal manner.

you should have the wedding how you want it

i saw a show this morning in which the woman let the 3 bridemaids got to pick dresses they like, didn't have to match, just what they would keep and wear in life.

They are there to support you emotionally I think.

Everything is optional - do what you want. You just need someone to sign the marriage certificate, but that can be your parents or something.

I did not have any- my husband and I walked together to the altar. It is your day, so do whatever you want.

I only had a matron of honor. It's your wedding, you decide.

It's optional. It's your day and I hope you have a nice one.
