From birth you are taught that there is a God. Atheists become so through reason, education, science, and history.

I did not become an athiests out of choice but out of the realization that all the current religions of the world came about in the same manner that all ancient religions likewise arrived. But we give no creidence the the cults of Zeus or Osiris.

Ask yourself if the Bible, Quran, or Torah were being written in modern times if you would believe them. Some would that is why Scientology exists. But most rational thinking people regardless of education would not. So where does that leave us?

In then end, to a theist, neither argument will matter, so might as well approach a "critique" depending on your mood.

I have spent great time and effort to compile sources, references, and well written arguments defending scientific principals, and criticizing theist claims.

They are almost entirely brushed off by "god-did-it" or "you're going to hell".

Many atheists do.

As a Christian and a Biblical literalist... I would say that your question makes you guilty of exactly the same thing.

Your question is far from an intelligent critique of atheism.

Now, now--don't be bitterly superior; none of us should presume to have a lock on absolute truth. A good question might be--Which has been responsible for more human death and suffering through human history--atheism or religion? I think I'll ask it!
