they are the WORST. they lead to all kinds of terrible ailments and diseases. The average pH of soft drinks, e.g. Coke, Pepsi is pH 3.4. This acidity is strong enough to dissolve teeth and bones!Soft drinks do not have any nutritional value (in terms of vitamins and minerals). They have higher sugar content, higher acidity, and more additives such as preservatives and colourings.

Sometime back, there was a competition in Delhi University "Who can drink the most Coke?". The winner drank 8 bottles and died on the spot because too much carbon dioxide in the blood and not enough oxygen. From then on, the principal banned all soft drinks from the university canteen.

Someone put a broken tooth in a bottle of Pepsi and in 10 days it is dissolved! Teeth and bones are the only human organs that stay intact for years after death. Imagine what the drink must be doing to your delicate soft intestines and stomach lining!

Well 1st....

The cola (i mean the sweet and fizzy) variety do not tend to 'Quench' so much as postpone it...

You will always feel thirsty later on...

As for the last point in your question, it is a rather large assumption to make that they will lead to ill health if they don't do quench your thirst.

There are certain reports that indicate some drinks contain minute traces of things that 'possibly' could be harmful, usually in much MUCH larger doses...

Stick to tap water, it WILL quench you and is likly to be the least harmful (but even that contains some things that are not good in quantity!!!

Enjoy.

There is so much sugar in soft drinks. I grew up drinking a can of coke a day, then switched to diet drinks until 2 years ago. I moved to a different location and adopted a healthier lifestyle..one of the things I did was cut out soda. (I have one occasionally) I feel healthier, I drink a lot more water, I have more energy and I feel less bloated and have fewer cravings than before. I am not going back to soft drinks.

Don't know about others, but soft drinks do not quench my thirst. I drink water or tea to quench mine.

Too much can lead to ill health. If you are a female beware of carbonated beverages as they remove calcium from the body and that's an issue we need to worry about. I learned to drink 1/3 the pop I use to, by filling my glass half with water and half with pop.
