Agnostics look around and see that little in life appears fair. Why would a God, who can do anything, create a world where a child can die because of some stupid adult made a mistake and caused the child to be killed. Something stupid like an airplane crash can distroy's the child's life, a stray bullet or any number of other things can steal the childs life. Why create a world like the one we live in if you were a God and knew all, loved all or even cared a wit about all. It makes no sense.
Ok, now, there is more to the story. I am not an agnostic because I was just incomplete with looking at the world in such a hopeless manner. Also, history shows that men and women through the ages have looked to and believed in Gods or God to give their lives meaning, purpose and hope in times of great sorrow. What is good enough for the history of mankind is good enough for the student of mankind.
Belief I have come to understand is at least in part an act of will power. We believe is like, it seems like it is so, so I am going to believe it, even though I do not know it. However, this also is less than comforting.
Faith however is a different thing all together. Faith is a form of knowing. Faith is a way of knowing that which you can not prove or believe unconditionally. Faith requires only a metaphorical leap off the face of a cliff. The rewards are worth it even though there is no proof.
The rewards are in the act of having faith. Somehow with faith, you know that life makes sense in some way or fashion that is beyond our everyday understanding.
Faith allows the innocent child who was killed to live again to get a second chance, or to survive in some form that denies the final victory to hopelessness.
Faith is a way to eternal life.
The agnostic is just not their yet, but he or she will get as many chances as is needed to get the job done. And also, we all take a very long time to see the light, and could be as long as a hundred life times to get there, some people are really stubborn.

im an agnostic.

and i think that there may be a god. but then again i think there may not be a god.
we have no way of knowing if any diety exists until after we die.

i mean there are like thousands of different relegions and each one says theres is right.

what makes one right and another wrong??

why should i say that one faith that originated in one part of the world is the right one and the faith that originiated in another part of the world is wrong??

if there is only one true faith then why is there such a diversity of faiths to chose from??

so i dont know wether there is a god. or wether there isnt. ill find out when i die

now to end my post with an adorable slightly homoerotic pic from ff12 that was fanmade ^-^

Im agnostic... I believe that there is no god, yet I do not deny the fact that there MAY be a god, yet to my knowledge I do not know of one. I feel that religion is just a way for people to "stay in line" aka "do the right thing" or to give them strength during hard times. Why? I do not believe in god because god has never been shown to me, i guess you can say. LOL

Agnostics are people who think that the existance of God is unknown or unknowable. It's hard to answer your question as to why people are agnostic. It's a personal choice some people make.

I believe in God but I do not believe in the organized church. Especially the modern christian church. I was raised in the church but now longer believe it holds any moral authority. The church's involvement i politics, gay bashing, and it's placing of homosexuality and abortion as hotter topics than the far more destructive and deadly plight of poverty have caused me to lose all respect for it.

I realize that much of this comes from the far right wing of the church but I do not see or hear the rest of the Christian church taking a high profile stand against these things. I'll say again that if the Christian church alone became as upset and agitated at the sight of a person living in poverty as they do the concept of homosexuality or the topic of abortion we could make the biggest strides against poverty in human history right here, right now. Oddly enough the topic of poverty is mentioned far left by the organized church in the political and public arena. I know that many churches are involved in homeless programs and their ilk, however the real public outcry is against homosexuality and abortion, not against poverty.

The last Christian to really declare universal war on poverty in a radical way that all heard was Jesus. It's sad that those teachings have had to take a back seat to the church's involvement in trying to legislate religious beliefs on social issues, something Christ never did and never encouraged.

I consider myself a militant agnostic. I don't know and you don't either. I believe that there is no evidence of a creator, and therefore no one has the answers. Anyone who says differently is selling something.

By definition, an agonstic believes that there is know way to know the ultimate truth of the existence or nonexistence of a deity, and therefore find the question, "Is there a god?" to be meaningless.

They do not believe in a god. They do not believe there is no god. They believe you cannot know either of those two things.

They don't believe or dis-believe in God. Basically they are undecided & see both options as possible.
As for why, it makes sense to me to be open-minded on something no one can really prove/disprove.
