talked to this guy last year all the time and we flirted and everyone said that he liked me. gave him my number and he never called me over the summer. we came back to school and he almost never talks to me anymore and when he does it is like an after thought like o yea she is still here and i am bored so i'll go talk to her. but then he will go out of his way just to do something cute so i will notice him and get this cute little look sometimes when he looks at me like he wants about to say something important but can't. . also when i ask him what is going on he will mumble things like "i alway liked u (idk if as friend or what) and "we always talk"i don't know what to think so i am about to end the small friendship we now have because i am tired of trying to figure him out. what he is doing and should i just try to forget him?girls u are great and i appreciate ur answers but i would like some guys to answer too cuz u know better than girls what is going through his mind. what he doin

He's just not that into you. People who mess with your head so you have to try to figure out what they want or mean or whatever aren't worth the effort. If he liked you, he would have kept in touch over the summer. If he liked you, he would have made an effort to talk to you. A guy who's interested in you doesn't force you to try and figure him out.

Sufi nailed it. Guys are not that difficult. Chicks keep trying to make their thought processes so difficult, but they aren't. Guys go after what they want. Either he will or he won't. Just be friends - don't make it so dramatic.

I'd say you're the back up for when he gets bored or doesn't have a chick to focus on.
