My cat was abandoned and is more than a little nervous at the best of time. After our last move she was so traumatized she went under the floorboards and had to be cut out. She put a friend who was trying to help us in the hospital for a week. Our vet won't prescribe something without seeing her, he wont make house calls so catch 22 there. The only thing I can think of is to give her some medication myself. I am happy to try an herbal alternative but I need something that will work so we can move her to our new home. Thank you

Why would you consider drugging your cat? Go to www.spiritessence.com and read about flower essences which are used successfully to help cats and other animals with behavioral problems. They are not drugs and cannot harm your cat in any way.

I would always take this route first with my cats. The side effects of drugs in cats has not been well-researched and long-term use of many of them can harm your cat.

Do not give your cat any medication without the advice of a vet. Many medications that other animals can take are very toxic to cats. While I know Valium in the correct dosage is tolerated by cats I would not even dream of doing so unless my vet told me exactly what dosage to give.

Valium is toxic to the liver.
Do not give your cat any, unless prescribed by a vet (with proper dosage information).

People like you scare me! Why would you even think about giving your cat anything without asking your vet first???? Just because your vet won't make house calls doesn't mean he won't answer a question over the phone!

Whatever the VET said the amount was that you should give. If you're not sure, give them a call. Medication is given according to weight of the animal.

Unless the doctor actually prescribed valium for your pet because he saw him/her and said it was ok, you shouldn'd be giving anything to them.

and not using a vet's approval on doseage and the wellbeing expertise of your cat? because of the fact that ninety 9% of human meds are poisonous to animals, i wouldn't be attempting this without vet approval. The liver has to handle something the cat eats, you're able to be doing everlasting harm over this. Treating the indications without finding on the backside undertaking for the habit isn't solid the two.
