I know nothing about laser surgery, but I do know that the normal neutering surgery is trustworthy in itself.

If possible, yes, get both of your dogs fixed at the same time. Prevents the risk of the un-altered male picking on and trying to dominate the altered & healing male.

It will fine to have both neutered at the same time. It will be nice to get them both done and over with. Besides, they can recover together. As far as the laser goes, it is really whatever you feel most comfortable with. I did have that done on all 3 of mine (2 boys 1 girl). All had quick recovery times. You would have never known they had sugery and none needed any pain medication once they left the vet's office. Most people do not opt for the laser because it is more expensive and their dogs do fine as well. It really is a personal choice. Good luck.

Wow, I'm shocked that most people suggested you don't pay extra for laser. My vet only charges $20 more for laser, and I highly recommend it. It helps tremendously with pain and healing time. I know this from having my dogs done both ways. Definitely the laser is the way to go! I would also get them done at the same time, that way they'll leave each other alone while they're healing.

I would highly suggest to neuter him as soon as possible. Neutering a dog will have zero effect on the dog. Anyone who says that it stunts their growth, makes them fat, makes them lazy, etc. are very much wrong. The only effect is a positive one; he can't have babies and will have good behavior. Not to mention if you leave him in-tact long enough, he will gain his sex drive and will know that he's a male dog. If you neuter him before his maturity, (At 6 months), then he will be a calmer, happier dog who most likely will never mark and will never have a sex drive. Which sounds better? Plus, during that time you leave him in-tact, he could definitely try and escape your home or mount a female. You could very well have a litter of puppies on your hand unintentionally. Male dogs do not suddenly have sex drive and able to breed at 2, it's often earlier. Just like females don't suddenly go into heat when they're 2 either. Good luck!

I would get them both done at the same time and I would not pay extra for the laser surgery.

Sure, why not? They can both recuperate at the same time, although it'll only take a few days for them feeling back to normal.

I've never heard of laser surgery, we don't do it at our clinic, the "old style" seems to work just fine, with a minimal recovery time.

If you get them both done at the same time they will both feel a bit crappy instead of one feeling fine and wanting to play with the other.

I haven't seen that the laser makes a bit of difference in recovery and I think it is a waste of money, I won't do it again.

JR - Of COURSE give your dog some pain medication!!! Would YOU want pain meds if they removed YOUR testicles??? Just because they can't tell you they hurt does not mean they don't!

Do them both at the same time. That way they are both still slightly sedated and will not aggravate each other

DO NOT PAY FOR LASER!!!

Also do not pay for extra pain meds. They don't feel anything under the anesthesia and will be droggy most of that day. They will be fine the next day just make sure they are not licking themselves.

yes get them done at the same time, that way they will be recoving at the same time and one isnt trying to inniate play while they other is supposed to be resting.

i would say dont bother with the laser, we got it done (a spaying) thinking it was supposed to heal faster and be less invasive, but it infact took an extra 10 days to heal!! she did, however, never act like she had even had the surgery and was never acting like she was in pain (she did have 3 days worth of pain meds tho)
