I let him into other parts of the house he pees. I haven't "crated" him because I really don't have the room in my kitchen. I have a gate that seperates the kitchen doorway from the rest of the house. For the first week & a half he stayed only in the kitchen. After that I would let him roam into a couple of rooms in the house for a couple of hours, but he'd always go back to the kitchen to sleep at night. I haven't let him roam for about 3 days now because he keeps peeing on my carpet. I also have a 1.5 yr old Shih Tsu that he loves to play with. I work from home, so they are let out frequently for a half-to one hour at a time in a large, fenced yard. If I take him outside & tell him 'potty' he goes almost instantly. So why does he keep peeing on my carpet? Also, his barking/whining to get out of the kitchen at night has gotten worse. We have 6 people here trying to sleep. What can I do? I've just been ignoring it for the most part until he stops. Any help would be appreciated-thanks!

At 12 weeks he can only hold his bladder about 3 hours of confinement and even less unconfined.. Rules for taking the dog out to potty.

After Any change in activity!!

After eating or drinking water
After Playing
After a walk
When he wakes up
Etc

In short, and this is not meant to be mean. If he goes potty inside, it is YOUR fault.

As for the barking at night. Well that's part of his training and getting into a routine. Wear his butt out before bed. Really consider a crate so he can have the feeling of the safety and security of a den. The crate should be where the "pack" spends most of its time, not a separate isolated area. You can also move the crate into your room at night.

Dogs are pack animals. Doing the best you can to mimic pack behavior works in your favor.

he doesnt have full control of going yet.... he will know where he went everytime unless you get a stain and odor remover and thouroughly clean the area he went.... walk him like 45min to an hour after you feed and water him and reward him when he goes outside so he knows he did good by going outside....

Call local training centers to get information on training your dog or ask them what are their prices to have your dog trained there. I hope it helps.
