SPANISH! you will need to in the work world in the U.S. far more than any other language...ya its cool to know german or french or italian...if you have some family background of that....BUT if you want to be marketable in the job work and get an awesome job...you should learn spanish.....since we are in a very multicultural world where we work together with american and spanish everyday!!! plus I have take 8 years of spanish and it is fun to know what others are saying in the bathroom or in a classroom or even on TELEMUNDO!

This is my opinion of course, but if you are in the United States, you should take Spanish. The Spanish language is becoming more and more prevalent here, and it doesn't hurt to learn that. And I don't mean to be insulting to Hispanics in general, but I was in McDonald's the other day and tried to order my sandwich without mustard. And it seemed like the person behind the counter didn't understand, but I was able to convey what I wanted in Spanish.

As for French, that is probably better if you live in Canada, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that it is already part of schooling there.

Other than the fact that Spanish is more useful, Spanish is easier than French. Spanish is a phonetic language; it's spoken exactly like it's written, unlike French. Other minor details, French has two types of accents and Spanish only has one. I'd go for Spanish, although they're both beautiful languages.

I liked that I took German (I was able to hold my own in Switzerland, Germany and Austria), but I often wished I would have taken French as well. French would many more doors in the working world here in Canada, and I assume it would be similar to Spanish in the US. If you take French, it will be easier to pick up Spanish as well (and vise versa).
If you want to do some travel ling, Spanish is the language to learn if you want to go to Central and South America (and Spain, naturally). French is useful in Canada, France, and many African countries.
You will have to think on what your goal is for leaning another language: job possibilities? travel? simply another credit? From that, you can choose your language that fits best with your goal.

I am an Englishman in Netherlands, anfd this has been something that was posed to me very recently.
I had decided that if i were going to learn a 2nd language then it would have to be Spanish.
The reason for this is the amount of global speakers.
It make sense that being able to speak an additional language that is represented in more than one part of the world (Europe, North/South America etc) then it would make both comercial and just plain old commen sense that i maximise the future use of the chosen tongue..

De todos modos, espere que este ayude...
Adiós.

In the U.S. it would be more practical to learn spanish, but I just love the french language! I took it in high school & in some ways it's very similar to spanish. Where we say Bob's house-french & spanish say the house of Bob. I guess it just depends on if you're looking to be bilingual for a job or not. Not too many french interpreters needed in the U.S.

Im German and can say from experience that this is a difficult language to learn. Of course if your near germany and have the opportunity to live and learn by all means do it. In my life Ive found that there are endless subjects taht I would love to learn. Since this is not the Matrix (movie reference) I have to be practical about where I apply resources. Which language posses the best return on investment to you? Even if the return is pure enjoyment as opposed to usefulness. Thats the one I would choose. In my life it is Spanish that appeals to me. My wife is Spanish and I would love to be able to speak fluently with her family in their native language. Spanish is also very useful in my everyday life outside of family.

Depending on where you live, I would find out what foreign language is more common. Where I live in the U.S. I would choose spanish. More languages the better for your future jobs. I would love to learn French though it sounds so smooth.. hee hee

Good luck!

Depends on you, really. Which one do you find more useful? Which one do you like more? etc.
I would personally go with French. But why choose one of them? The more languages you learn the better.
Good luck anyways!
