Judas bought the field himself, and died in a fatal fall:

ACTS 1:18 Now this man [Judas] purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

The priests bought the field after Judas hanged himself:

Matthew: 27:5-7 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself, And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.

This is a contradiction. Where in the Bible can I go to resolve it?

You can't.

The bible gives two conflicting versions, and nothing lets scholars decide which is more credible.

I have my own conclusion that matthew is more likely, but that is because I reject all paulinian writings, including those of Luke (gospel and acts) as propaganda driven and unreliable... Then again, Acts might be correct there.

Accept the fact that the bible is not consistent and univocal, or reject the bible wholesale, it is all up to you.

Iscariot is close to the word Siccariat, or Zealot-Assain. The Siccariat were the Assamites of their time, and Judas himself a likely member (given his "name" of reference.)

It is an account of the death of Judas. The location of where the body was found is not in dispute, only the witnesses to the event who either claim that he was disembowled and hung so as to make it easier to find the body. With the betrayal of Jesus by Judas, it is likely his suicide was in fact a murder by either the disciples or by the Siccariat.

Rumor has it that after he hung himself, someone gutted him. The Bible says his bowels spilled out, but that can't happen just from hanging. I don't know who bought the field, though.
