This is obviously before styling products like we have now. I want to create strong spikes for a punk party and modern styling products won't do it. So. How did they do it so I can recreate it?!

gelatin or elmer's glue mixed with water. my daughter uses the elmer's clear gel glue...it works! watch out though, those spikes will be so stiff they could put an eye out!! daughter says, "it's really good to use with bright hair colors cuz it acts as a preservant for the hair color too." you might have to soak your hair a bit to soften the glue back up, and then wash it with as hot of water as you can stand. and use a really good clarifying shampoo. it can take about 3 washes to totally remove the glue. have fun at that party!! wish i was going with you ;o]

My brother had 10inch spikes he used to rub hand soap into it,he used to run the soap under the tap, shake the excess water off then rub it up the length of the spikes over and over again, once they were done they would be rock hard!only prob was that if he got caught in the rain he would end up with nippy eyes!!

A lot of back combing of the hair and half a can of hairspray! One guy used superglue but I wouldn't recommend it! There's a lot of gel products about these days!
