It's hard to hear it, but he has already given you an answer. One of the ways guys will try to let you know that they are not interested is to say "I don't want to hurt you, and especially "You are too good for me".
If you look at that statement it is absolutely ridiculous and means nothing, except that he is also lying to you.
What he is actually saying is "I'm sorry, but I am not interested in you", and then also saying "but I don't want you to be angry with me so I'll pretend that you are too good for me and say that".
That is your answer. Now you have two options:
1) You can continue to pine over him, knowing full well that you will not be with him, and get more and more frustrated because you KNOW you both should be together and you can't understand why he doesn't see it too... yada yada yada... You can cry to your girlfriends that he is the perfect guy while they roll their eyes and just wish you would shut up and get over it... This is one option, and as you can imagine it will lead nowhere.
2) Or you can accept that he doesn't like you. It happens. I'm 27 years old, and I've learned that broken hearts are one of the most difficult and also the richest experiences you can have in life.
It takes a very mature adult to accept that the one that they want is not interested, and then to grieve for the loss of what "could have been." I'll bet you have all sorts of fantasies about what life with him would be like, right? These actually die when you let him go, so seriously... grieve. Just like at a funeral. Cry into your pillow for a day or two, and then let it go.
I will bet you there is already a guy waiting for you who would love to be with you. Why waste time on a dead end guy who isn't interested?
I wish you the best of luck. As I said, after 27 years of this, I've come to realize that even the feeling of loss can be very sacred and wonderful. After all, it's called being human.

You need to tell him that it was you that put the songs on.
If the two of you get together it is only a matter of time till he learns this anyway so it may as well be from you.
Him saying that "he doesn't want to hurt you" is either his way of letting you know that he isn't intrested in you, or he may feel that you really are to good for him.
Either way, life is not for the timid, and always remember that the worst that he can say to your advance is "no".
And even if he does do that, the world will not end.

Tell him how you feel. Tell him the truth. You wouldn't know if he likes you too unless you tell himi the truth and he admits his feelings. Take the risk. Loving someone is all about taking the risk.
