I think a good gift for a three year old is an interactive learning toy. There are several, some teach them letters and numbers while others teach them how to lace shoes and fasten things. I have a three year old on my list....soon to be four. He wants cowboy boots like his Pepe so he can go in the hay field on the farm .

I love shopping for my boys. I have 3 and year old and i find tat fun learning toys are great.
Aqua doodle is a great an inexpensive gift. It is a mat they lay on the floor and it comes with a pen you fill w/ water.
leap frog toys are a good brand of toys for a child in that age range too.
Mega blocks
Depending on how much you want to spend also is a factor.
a V-smile is a GREAT gift, though it is more expensive.
My kids have all of these things and they play with them on a daily basis.

Definetly learning games for his age. Lots of books and Disney movies are good too. A 3 year old loves to learn. My grandson is 3 and I bought him a bunch of computer learing games. He has a few and loves them, not only will he have fun but he will learn also.. Good Luck!

My three year old wants anything that pops up on the television screen. What I actually bought her was lots of Playdoh & activies. Her mind is so active and this helps her be creative. So buy them what they need and things you know they will use and like.

I would go on ToyR US site and search the recommended toys for a three year old. They are rated as well by parents.

You know Walmart has this section where everything is $.88, I got my sona bunch of toys from that isle and he loves it. There are things like fake animals, like spiders and lizards he take in the bath with him. I got him "flarp" which makes farting noises. Lots of squishy slimy stuff that is fun and unique and you only have to spend like $5!

I would say stick with the classics. My nephews and nieces loved to color at that age. So I always buy them coloring books (you can even find educational coloring books) and a box of Crayola crayons. They loved it. You could also get a little easel from fisher price or something.

Doller Store Toys! Play dough, puzzles, dress up outfits. They have no idea how much u spend and will get tons of other toys too, so why not save where you can! They like the toys just as well!

It depends on what he/she likes. My daughter's into Cinderella and the princesses so getting her stuff on that is a big deal. I like getting educational toys for my kids, like Vsmile, it's like a video game that they can actually learn things from. They also love movies so I like to get them that too. If the child is into dora or diego get them things like that. You can even get them clothes with these characters on them, or comforter sets for their beds and they'll love that too.
