I am assuming YOU don't have a weight problem. In case your ignorance is true and not just stupidity I am going to tell you a few medical facts. There are some people that are overweight because of what they eat i will not deny that but there are also people that suffer from disorders like poly ovarian syndrome and thyroid disorder that causes them to be overweight. Now if you want to reword your question and offer to ban fatty foods I would agree but the question you ask is rude and just downright shows me how ignorant you are. You are offensive and I hope your children face weight problems growing up so that you will have to learn instead of being ignorant. By the way I'm not overweight nobody in my family is. But i would really like to make a tax for stupid people like you

How dare you become judgmental and stay judgmental! Listen to the majority of these people who have answered your question so far - they are right! So many factors hurt the economy that taxing "fat folks," as you so very crudely call them, would not make that much of a difference. Perhaps you should be banned as a member of Yahoo Answers, since you are hurting its reputation. Just wait until you have to depend on the health care system, and we'll see if you want the government to tax YOU for being such a burden.

How are they hurting the economy exactly? If you want to have obese people pay a fat tax then maybe alcoholics should pay an alki tax and smokers should pay an additional puff tax and people that engage in sports should pay an injury tax. Since carbonated products eat the enamel off of teeth we should also tax pop drinkers. Dentistry gets expensive. We could just tax everybody to death, like it isn't bad enough already. Lets make all of the companies responsible for creating "bad for you"stuff responsible rather than the consumers so that they stop manufacturing "bad for you" stuff altogether.

Like one of your replies says...there are many risky things that cause illness. In fact if we didn't have air pollution we could avoid lung cancer. And so on....
Always remember when you ''judge'' an obese person you could be very unfair. Sometimes drugs like antidepressants, steroids for lung problems etc cause obesity...not over eating.
How dare people judge one another and stay judgemental!! Tax them for being rude.

If you want to start controlling the freedoms people have, you would have to extend it much further than for the people who eat too much. Cigarettes would have to be banned, motorcycles, ban people from doing extreme sports....all these things can cause disease or injury and therefore cost the health care system more.

If you want to live in a communinst country where the government tells you how to live your life, move to China.

hahahah im sorry to admit it but yes i agree! But even better i think we should go to the source of obesity, the food! I think fast food, bad food, chips fries, all that crap should bet axd to high heaven like cigarettes and gas. Maybe some ppl will think twice about eating that bag of chips when its 5 dollars instead of 99 cents. No question that obesity is a burden to our health care system.

Obesity is an expensive problem for society, but I wouldn't support any legislation that limits personal freedom or civil liberties.

What you don't realize is that you are only making the problem worse. When overweight people come here for diet and fitness advice and they are confronted by assholes like you, they get depressed and eat more...try getting over yourself and having some compassion for a change. And learn to spell correctly.

sure just as soon as we start taxing drug addicts, alcoholics..depressed people, habitual criminals, illegal aliens, poor people..inconsiderate people just plain rude people diabetics, people with heart conditions, pyromaniacs, pedophiles, and anyone else that society supports no matter how indirectly or minimally...only the very healthy and the very rich would be able to avoid punitive taxes oh I forgot bus riders train riders also both transportation systems rely on public support and car and truck drivers we would not need highways if they didn't demand them...starting to see a pattern?

You can't control how much people eat (are you going to install a secret camera??). The only way to "punish" them is to charge them more for health care, so they got no money left to buy food.
