If you have a chance, try checking it out in a local store. My experience with Sony has been The accessories for SONY might be expensive, but you might get good deals if you search online.

One thing many people ignore is the quality of the video in low lighting conditions. I used SONY, Panasonic, JVC and Canon. Sony and Panasonic were excellent for low end cameras, in low lighting conditions. Stores which sell these, are typically well lit, so most cameras, when tried, would show good picture on the LCD screen. So, find a friend who has it and try it out.

I have a samsung tv - the customer service I have found to be appalling so I would go for Sony in case you have any problems

SONY...all the way.... Samsung does not even come close...Canon is the best though
